Fire engulfs mosquito coil factory in Corlim in Old Goa

Panaji, Nov 6 (UNI) Total Packaging - a Godrej company unit - manufacturing mosquito coils at Corlim industrial estate in Old Goa caught fire in one of its drying rooms, resulting in gutting of property worth about Rs 4 lakhs this evening.

Three tenders had been deployed to bring the fire under control, besides preventing it from spreading to other units. The flames were doused using seven tankers of water, according to the station fire officer Mr S V Palni.

Excess of room temperature in the coil drying unit might have resulted in the accident. There are four such rooms where the coils are kept for drying before packaging, he added.
