US delgation to call on Haryana assembly Speaker

Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) A nine-member US delegation will have a meeting with Haryana assembly Speaker Raghuvir Singh Kadian here tomorrow to understand the nature and working of the Indian federal system and other legislative processes.

A Haryana Vidhan Sabha spokesman said the delegation, led by Representative Donna Stone would comprise five state senators and four officials of US mission.

He said they would also discuss India's spectacular economic growth and policy which ushered this growth. The topics of discussion would include education, transportation, infrastructure and cultural diversity.

He said Dr Raghuvir Singh Kadian had invited some senior members of Haryana Vidhan Sabha to have an interactive meeting with members of the visiting delegation.

Besides Ms Donna Stone, the other four senators were Speaker Melvin Neufeld, Speaker Terrie Noreilli, Mr Eric Johnson and Ms Nancy Rhyme. The officials of the US mission accompanying them would be Acting Cultural Affairs Officer Collen Fleming, Cultural Affairs Specialist J P Dass, Political Assistant Shireen Singh and Political Officer James Tira.
