Top commander among 2 militants killed, two arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have killed two militants, including a self styled District Commander of an outfit and arrested two others in Kashmir since last night.
A police spokesman said today that a search operation was launched at village D H Pora in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night.
During the operation an encounter ensued, in which two militants were killed,he added.
One of the slain militant was later identified as Arif Pathan, a District Commander of Al-Badr. Pathan, a resident of Pakistan was a wanted militant, involved in a number of militancy related incidents.
Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from their pssession, The spokesman said.
A Defence Ministry spokesman said troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and two-Para arrested two militants Mohammad Iqbal Wani alias Rashid and Shabir Ahmad Sheikh alias Riaz during a search operation at Shiu in Baramulla district.
He said both the militants confessed that they were involved in attacks on security forces and grenade blasts in north Kashmir.
