Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) The Punjab Government today decided to condone the strike period of teachers and employees of government aided schools in the state for the release of grants.

The government has also decided to release the grants of the next six months without any pre audit to expedite the disbursal of salary to the staff of aided schools.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Education Department said that grant to the 392 schools for paying salary had been released upto March 31. For releasing the grants for the current financial year the managing committees of these schools were not sending the claims because of the strike period of 21 days.

Therefore the government has decided to condone the strike period to enable the release of the grant to the schools.

The spokesman further said that the delay in release of grants was solely because of non submission of claims by the managements of the schools despite repeated reminders to them by the department.

The education department would immediately release the grants once the school managements submitted their claims.
