Protestor dies after seven days of hunger strike
Etah, Nov 5 (UNI) An agitator, on a hunger strike, died after seven days of protest over receiving a caste certificate here.
''Some people of Baheliya community were agitating outside the collectorate office for the past 12 days, demanding Schedule Caste (SC) certificate and reservation benefits,'' Additional District Magistrate Devendra Dixit said today.
Among the protestors, some had started hunger strike, of whom Budhpal (45) succumbed late yesterday, he added.
Another, Budhai, fell severely ill and had been admitted to hospital.
Meanwhile, Police and Police Armed Constabulary (PAC) in strength have been deployed to maintain peace in the area.
