Peru Ambassador for investing in Punjab

Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) Mr Carlos A Irgoyen Farno, Acting Ambassador of Peru, today called on Punjab Chief Secretary Ramesh Inder Singh to explore the possibility of investment opportunities for the companies of Peru in the border state.

The Chief Secretary informed the Ambassador that the state government had notified a new policy of mega projects to encourage investment in Punjab under which a series of benefits are offered to investors. He said that the government was encouraging investment in agro processing, IT, small engineering, bio-technology, garment manufacturing etc and investors are provided single window service without any red tape.

The Ambassador who had come with a delegation of entrepreneurs from Peru told the Chief Secretary that a number of companies from his country were desirous of investing in agro processing and in the retail and reality sector. He informed the Chief Secretary that Peru San Miquel Del, a reputed company was interested in establishing a soya based soft drink plant in Punjab with initial investment of 10 million dollars.

He informed that this company would also process various fruits to manufacture soft drinks for domestic as well as for export.

The Ambassador said that his country was desirous of availing various opportunities to increase trade co-operation with Punjab.
