Over 30 lakh paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) Government procuring agencies have so far procured 16.89 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of paddy in Haryana out of total arrival of 30.98 lakh MTs in the mandis of the state.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said that out of total arrival, 24.09 lakh metric tonnes was leviable paddy while 6.89 lakh paddy was non-leviable.

He said out of total leviable paddy, 70 per cent paddy was purchased by the six government procuring agencies and the rest was purchased by the millers.

The Deputy Chief Minister said HAFED had procured 6.88 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 5.36 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.12 lakh MTs, Confed 1.88 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 56,454 MTs and Food Corporation of India 7744 MTs.

Mr Chander Mohan said that Kurukshetra district was on the top in arrival of paddy in all districts of the state with the arrival of 6.35 lakh MTs, followed by Karnal 5.25 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 4.56 lakh MTs, Kaithal 3.62 lakh MTs, Ambala 2.74 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 1.96 lakh MTs and Sirsa 1.48 MTs and Faridabad 1.19 lakh MTs.

He said a sum of Rs 985 crore had been arranged for the payment of paddy to the farmers, he added.
