Kapurthala Nov 5 (UNI) Bholath Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira today blamed the district administration for its failure to protect Rs 30 lakh rural water supply scheme of village Talwandi Kuka falling in Nadal Block.

In a press conference here today, Khaira said the project sponsored by NABARD to supply safe drinking water to five villages had been almost completed by the Public Works Department when Harjinder Singh, panch of village Talwandi Kuka, dug a 15 feet deep huge pond at the site of proposed water supply scheme for the storage of sullage water of the village.

Mr Khaira claimed that on request of the villagers he had approached DC, Chief Secretary and Secretary Public Health to save the scheme as the sullage water of the pond would contaminate the ground water but no action was taken against the Panch.

Mr Khaira further said that Nadala Block Development and Panchayat officer also wrote to SHO Bholath to register a criminal case against the miscreants for allegedly digging the pond on the land of Public Health Department. But the police too, ignored the complaint allegedly under the political pressure as the Panch had ''patronage of a SGPC leader''.

Mr Khaira told reporters that he had today raised the issue in the meeting of district planning Board and Punjab Health Minister Luxmi Kanta Chawla who presided over the meeting had asked the DC to look into the case.

Mr Khaira, in another complaint to the Secretary Rural Development and Panchayat, demanded action against BDO and Panchayat officer Dhilwan for publishing their photographs along with the photo of Former SGPC President Jagir kaur who holds no public office, in a government advertisement that appeared in a Punjabi daily on November one.
