Haryana to spend Rs 33 cr on houses for BPL families

Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) As many as 13,231 houses will be constructed at a cost of Rs 33.07 crore for the people living below poverty line under the Indira Awas Yojna in the state during the current financial year.

Of these, 1950 houses will be constructed for minority community at a cost of Rs 4.95 crore.

An official spokesman said that under the Indira Awas Yojna, a number of people living below poverty line would get benefit.

Under the scheme, the highest amount of Rs 3.25 crore would be spent in Sirsa district to construct 1301 houses. A sum of Rs 1.61 crore had already been allotted to the district so far to construct 645 houses out of which more than 100 families belonged to minority community.

Besides, a sum of Rs 81.30 lakh and Rs 2.43 crore would be spent by the state government and Union government respectively.

Under the scheme, which had been initiated with the assistance of the Centre, a sum of Rs 8.26 crore would be spent by the state government while a sum of Rs 24.80 crore would be spent by the Union government.

He said that second highest amount of Rs 2.89 crore had been allotted to district Yamunanagar.

As many as 1160 houses would be constructed in Yamunanagar district under the scheme during the current financial year.

Similarly, 980 housing units would be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.45 crore in Hisar district while 827 houses would be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.06 crore in Fatehabad district, he said.

He said 781 houses would be constructed in district Ambala at a cost of Rs 1.95 crore under Indira Awas Yojna. Similarly, 759 housing units would be constructed with a cost of Rs 1.89 crore in Bhiwani district.

A sum of Rs 1.69 crore would also be spent for construction of 679 houses in Faridabad district while Rs 1.23 crore would be spent to build 492 housing units in Gurgaon district.

An amount of Rs 1.24 crore would be spent in Jhajjar district for construction of 496 houses while 435 housing units would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.08 crore in Jind district.

Under the scheme, 412 houses would be constructed in Kaithal district at a cost of over Rs one crore and 828 housing units would be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.07 crore in Karnal district.

Similarly, a sum of Rs 1.22 crore in Kurukshetra, Rs.1.74 crore in Mewat, Rs 1.60 crore in Mahendergarh, Rs.97.80 lakh in Panchkula, Rs. 87.16 lakh in Panipat, Rs 1.24 crore in Rewari, Rs.90.79 lakh in Rohtak and Rs 1.62 crore in Sonepat district would be spent for the construction of houses for the people living below poverty line under the Indira Awas Yojna.
