Farmers to organise demo by dumping paddy in front of Parliament

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 5 (UNI) Thousands of farmers from Tamil Nadu will march to New Delhi to organise a novel demonstration by dumping paddy in front of Parliament to draw the Centre's attention to fix Rs 1,500 as procurement price for per quintal of paddy.

In a statement here today, Tamil Nadu Horticultural Crops Producers Association president said a decision to this effect was adopted at the meeting of the Federation of all farmers associations in the State held recently.

He said the Centre while fixing Rs 1,000 as procurement price for per quintal of wheat, it had fixed only Rs 725 for paddy which was highly condemnable.

He said the meeting had also appealed to members of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Union Ministers from Tamil Nadu to fulfill the demand of the farmers of the State.
