Bengali Film Industry needs more young talents: Pravat Roy

Kolkata, Nov 5 (UNI) The Bengali film industry is going through a transition and it requires budding actors with talent and vitality, said renowned Bengali film director Pravat Roy.

Speaking at a talent hunt 'Tarar Khonje', hosted by ABP Group's journal 'Anandolok', Mr Roy said such talent hunts provide a suitable platform for budding artistes.

''I find this to be a very suitable platform. In fact, I chose Subhosri through last year's hunt and she acted in a major role in my recent film 'Pitribhumi', which is based on Prafulla Roy's novel Pitribhumi,'' Mr Roy, who has so far directed well acclaimed films like ''Swet Pathorer Thala'', ''Lathi'' and ''Sedin Choitromashe'', said.

'Tarar Khonje', which was last year called ''Naikar Khonje'' is in its third year. Through this talent contests, a number of young talents have so far come into the film and telefilm industry.

''This year, I saw quite a few fine talents and I believe that they will definitely find their place in the industry. If they do not find their niche on the silver screen, they, most certainly, will find place in the small screen,'' says Mr Roy, who has through his movies, touched those sensitive moments of life that never cease to intrigue us.

Speaking on the present trend in Bengali film industry, he spoke with certain confusion in his voice, ''Well, one can say the industry is in an experimental phase, which we hope will not last too long or be considered as a permanent trend.'' Pravat Roy, who has made some of the most remarkable movies in the Bengali film industry, also directed 'Pratik' and a Hindi film 'Zindagi'.

All of these movies have captured some of the most critical yet treasurable moments of man's life. However, this time, he plans on making a comedy film.
