A delegation of AAPSU led by its president Kanu Bagang and general secretary Ojing Tasing yesterday submitted a memorandum to the state Governor, who is also the president of NERIST society, demanding immediate removal of the director, who had been found guilty of plagiarism by a committee of experts on examination of one of his recent papers.
NERIST is a deemed university under the union ministry of human resource development, and such deeds by the director has lowered the image of entire students and defeated the objective of human resource development, Bagang commented during a press conference last evening. Alleging that Mr Kumar was appointed as director through fraudulent means, the AAPSU leaders further added that a corruption case was pending against him when he was appointed.
"We would be compelled to take our own course of action if our demand is not met within the next seven days," they threatened and sought exemplary punishment to the director for downgrading the image of the teaching community and bringing bad reputation to the premier institute of the region.
