Denial of rabies-vaccine to TN woman condemned
Puducherry, Nov 4: National Agriculturists Awareness Movement President Sivagnanam today condemned the territorial administration for the alleged denial of vaccine to a dog-bite victim, hailing from Tamil Nadu two days ago.
Sathyakala of Pakkirippalayam in Tamil Nadu bordering Mannadipet commune panchayat in Puducherry, was bitten by a dog, day before yesterday, when she came to her relative's house at Thirukkanur. She was taken to the Mannadipet Primary Health Centre, where the staff demanded her ration card and voter's identity card and informed that the vaccine for dog-bite would not be administered on people hailing from Tamil Nadu.
She was denied treatment at the Thirukkanur PHC. However, she was treated at a hospital in Tamil Nadu later.
He lashed out at the 'unwarranted administrative procedures' to a patient from the neighbouring State.
Meanwhile, Health Department sources clarified that rabies-vaccine would be administered even after two days. As it was costly and subsequent dosages were essential, it was advised not to entertain people from Tamil Nadu.
