Congress leaders express confidence of poll victory in Gujarat

Surat, Nov 4 (UNI) Senior Congress leaders today expressed confidence that the party would win the forthcoming Gujarat assembly elections.

''In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the party was able to win much of the BJP's seats. The trend will continue in this elections also. It is certain that Congress will win this elections,'' said Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, while addressing the reporters here this evening.

''The Narendra Modi government is misleading the youth and the women of the state. The Congress challenges the Modi government to make public the development it had made in the public sector and during the Vibrant Gujarat events,'' said the Indian Congress Committee secretary Sudhakar Reddy.

He alleged that the Modi government was frustrated.

On alliance with the NCP in Gujarat, Mr Chavan said the NCP is an ally of the Congress-ruled government in two other states and the party has still not finalised the number of seats to be provided to NCP.
