Toonz Animation signs MoU with Beijing, Shengyang Universities

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3 (UNI) The Toonz Animation India Pvt Ltd has signed an MoU with the Beijing and Shengyang Universities in China to set up 10-15 centres of excellence in animation training in that country.

The announcement was made on the occasion of the eighth anniversary celebrations of Toonz Animation. The celebrations were kicked off by Inspector General of Police Rishiraj Singh a company release here today said.

Mr Rishiraj congratulated the animation house for being one of Asia's largest animation production facilities with an enviable client list including BBC, Disney, Sony Entertainment, Paramount, Hallmark and Warner Brothers.

Speaking at the event, Toonz CEO P Jayakumar said ''we have emerged from the shadows of an outsourcing hub for western clients to the persent 'co-producer' status. Today Toonz is co-producing 'Hanuman Returns', the sequel to the India's first successful animated movie 'Hanuman', due to hit theatres during the later part of December this year.'' Apart from Thiruvananthapuram, Toonz had set up Animation academies in Mumbai, Nagpur and Delhi and also had plans to set up in other cities in the country. The company currently employs over 1,000 animation experts, the release added.
