KSRTC aims to achieve Rs 1450 Cr turnover this fiscal

Bangalore, Nov 3 (UNI) State owned Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has targeted to achieve a turnover of Rs 1450 Crore during the current fiscal year, Managing Director A P Joshi said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that the Corporation has earned Rs 24 crore profit during the first six month of the current fiscal against Rs 16 crore earned during corresponding period last year.

The total turnover of the Corporation during 2006-07 was Rs 1276 crore.

Mr Joshi said that 1639 new buses, including 50 Volvo buses, would be added this year to the current fleet of 6250 buses. Of this 757 buses are expected to be added this month itself.

He said that to clear extra rush during Deepavali festival, the Corporation has decided to run 960 buses to various destinations including to neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh from November 6 to 11.

Mr Joshi said that the Corporation is incurring about 15 per cent loss in ghat sections of Madikeri and Mangalore sections due to heavy rain which badly damaged the roads.
