DQ Entertainment to foray into Bollywood action feature films

Mumbai, Nov 3 (UNI) DQ Entertainment, one of India's largest entertainment, animation and gaming companies, plans to foray into Bollywood live action feature film and animated TV series production in the country and abroad.

DQ Entertainment is also working along with various state governments in setting up animation academies aimed at training over 4,000 animation and gaming professionals across the country.

DQ Entertainment's live action feature film production will be based on cricket with international and Indian actors playing the lead roles. The animated TV series will be exclusively for the Indian TV industry, targeting children and teens.

The Company plans to produce a live action feature film every year, starting from 2008, along with an animated TV series every 18 months. While two major concepts on full length feature film and animation on Indian content are under development, the Company is also looking to work on an international concept for a UK live action TV series.

DQ Entertainment is also planning to consolidate its position in the gaming segment, covering the gamut of three-dimensional console games, mobile games and on-line, web-based interactive games.

Speaking to newspersons here yesterady, DQ Entertainment Founder and CEO Tapaas Chakravarti said, ''We blend animation with live action to produce feature films and animation series to penetrate into the Indian viewership with overseas collaboration in production and distribution.'' He added, ''The coming of Indian animation era has paved the way for the emergence of outsourcing in the creative industry, as an imperative to the technological advancements at the global level due to economic liberalisation.'' DQ Entertainment has projects outsourced from France, California, Ireland, Italy and Korea for creative and some pre and post production part of the pipeline for their global co-productions.

DQ Entertainment had recently announced major strategic partnerships with American Greetings Properties, Classic Media, TAFFY and MoonScoop for three animation series that comprise famous characters that have stolen the hearts of many across the globe in the past years, Mr Chakravarti informed.
