Two militants held, arms seized in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 2 (UNI) Security forces apprehended two militants and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in the Kashmir valley since last evening, official sources said today.

They said personnel of 62 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a search operation at Woyen village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir early today.

During the operation, an Al Badr militant, identified as Lateef Ahmad Wagay, was apprehended. Some arms and ammunition, including two grenades and one AK-47 magazine, were seized from his possession.

The sources said the militant was initially working with the Hizbul Mujahideen, but later joined the Al-Badr outfit.

In another operation, troops of 23 Punjab launched a search operation at Chhanpura village in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, they added.

The sources said troops arrested a suspected militant, Ghulam Dar alias Mitha, during the operation. One rocket propelled grenade launcher and two rocket propelled grenades were seized from his possession, they added.

Two under barrel grenade launcher grenades, two hand grenades and 93 rounds were seized from a militant hideout in Badgam district of central Kashmir last night, the sources added.
