TTD Chief blames BJP for terror threat to temples

Tirupati, Nov 2 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B Karunakara Reddy today blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for 'terror threats to temples in the country.' In an immediate response to the BJP and BJYM's (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha) outburst against the TTD in a public meeting in this temple town yesterday on 'increasing conversions and misuse of TTD funds,' Mr Reddy said attacks on temples began in 1992 when ''the BJP demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya'' leading to increased security at temples which became a target for the ultras.

He said the TTD had taken up some excellent programmes including 'Dalit Govindam' and 'Srinivasa Kalyanotsavams' in Dalitwadas but the BJP, which did not want 'Sanathana Dharma,' was making allegations of conversions.

Mr Reddy also challenged the BJP to prove allegations on the misuse of funds.

As many as 47 mutt heads and sadhus had attended the 'Religious Sadassu, conducted by the TTD in Tirumala and appreciated the programmes taken up by the board for protection of 'Sanathana Dharma, he claimed.
