TDP gains as many Cong, TRS, AIMIM MLCs suffer term curtailment
Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) Members of the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Legislative Council were benefitted as the Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samiti and All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen members suffered curtailment of their terms during a draw of lottery here today.
Leader of the Opposition in the Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao (TDP) was fortunate to get a full six-year term as also five other TDP colleagues, even as the terms of senior Congress leaders P Govardhan Reddy, K Bapi Raju and K R Amos were curtailed to two years during the draw held under the supervision of Election Commission Joint Secretary A R Mazumdar.
Council Chairman A Chakrapani, Deputy Chairman Mohd Jani, former Minister P Venkata Rao, Andhra Pradesh Women's Congress President Ganga Bhavani were among those whose terms were restricted to four years.
Other TDP leaders to get full six-year term were P Yadagiri, Ch Varaprasad, Y V Babu Rajendraprasad, S Raghava Rao and Ibrahim Bin Abdullah Masquati. TDP MLCs P Raghunagatha Reddy and M Padmaja got a four-year term, while the membership of TDP MLC G Venkataramana Reddy was curtailed to two years.
The membership of TRS MLC H A Rahman and AIMIM MLC Mohd Sultan Ahmed were curtailed to two years, while another AIMIM MLC Syed Altaf Hyder Razvi got a four-year term. TRS backed MLC from Graduate constituency R Satyanarayana was lucky to get a six-year term.
The term of TRS dissidents-backed independent MLC Kasani Gyaneshwar was restricted to four years.
CPI MLC Jalli Wilson and CPI(M) MLC Ch Seetharamulu were fortunate to get a six-year term, while veteran Communist leader P Nageswara Rao got a four-year term.
Former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao's son P V Ranga Rao, noted farm scientist M V Rao and noted educationist 'IIT-fame' Chukka Ramaiah were fortunate to get a full six-year term.
