AP funding 95 pc for emergency services

Hyderabad, Nov 2: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah today said the state government was funding 95 per cent of total expenditure required to provide emergency ambulance services.

The emergency ambulance services was launched by Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI) set up by Satyam Foundation.

Participating in a panel discussion on '108 Emergency Services in Andhra Pradesh' here, Mr Rosaiah said the 108 and 104 health information services were brought under 'Rajiv Arogya Sri' scheme in the state.

The technical services to 108 and 104 services would be provided by the EMRI.

CPI(M) state Secretary B V Raghavulu said a law should be enacted to provide funds for the emergency services regularly.

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi urged the government and EMRI to acquire two or three helicopters to provide instant access to the injured.

Lok Satta leader Jayaprakash Narayana said the government should take steps to upgrade government hospitals on par with corporate hospitals.

He appreciated the government for taking up 108 services under Public Private Partnership (PPP).
