New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Criticising the statement of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit that NCR is a dead concept, BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harshvardhan said it is very difficult to imagine modern Delhi without the NCR.

By stating this the Chief Minister has rejected the very concept of modern NCR which is ''irresponsible behaviour,'' Dr Harshvardhan said.

Dr Harshvardhan said, in describing NCR as a dead concept, the Chief Minister had rejected the scheme framed by her own Central Ministry.

Whie Ms Dikshit said that in the present context the concept of NCR is almost dead and it is futile to frame schemes for the development of Delhi under it, some days ago the Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken had, while mentioning the features of the Master Plan 2021, said under this plan there is a scheme to shift 20 per cent population of the capital to the NCR.

''If 20 per cent of the population is shifted to NCR then Delhi will definitely become a better place,'' Mr Maken had said.

Stating that the future of Delhi depends upon the success of NCR, Dr Harshvardhan said the Centre has completely failed to develop the NCR.

''Due to this, the pressure of population and industries is continuously increasing on Delhi and the life in Delhi is becoming hellish day by day,'' he said.
