BJP demands Pawar's resignation, CBI inquiry into wheat import scam

Pune, Nov 2 (UNI) Maharashtra BJP Vice-President Kirit Somaiya today said Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar should resign immediately and demanded a CBI inquiry into Rs 3,000 crore wheat import scam.

''I have repeatedly appealed to the state government to compeletely stop the supply of the rotten wheat and save the lives of the poor and the downtrodden people. But my appeal fell on deaf ears,'' Dr Somaiya told media persons.

Dr Somaiya today went on the sample collection drive in the Baramati constituency along with some high ranking government officials.

Terming the scam as the second largest after Bofors the former BJP MP said there is need for the CBI to go into the depth of the scam and punish the guilty.
