TN govt orders inquiry into attack on TNCC President

Chennai, Nov 1 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today ordered an inquiry into the stabbing of TNCC President M Krishnasamy at Keezhakaniseri village, near Mudhukalathur in Ramanathapuram district on October 29.

Senior IAS officer and Development Commissioner M F Farooqui would inquire into the incident and present a report to the government within 15 days, an official release here said.

The IAS officer would inquire whether proper advertisement was made for the function which was to be addressed by the Congress leader and police permission was obtained for it.

Mr Farooqui would also find out whether the local police was aware of the route which was to be taken by Mr Krishnasamy to reach to the function venue and what steps the police had taken, the release said.

He would also go into the issue if there was any slackness on the part of the police and if so, the details and other issues pertaining to the attack incident, the release added.

Meanwhile, police arrested three local people in connection with the incident.

Krishnaswamy was proceeding from Paramakudi when his convoy was waylaid by an armed gang and an assailant stabbed the Congress leader just below the chest, using a spear.
