Sugar prices gain on bulk consumers demand

Navi Mumbai, Nov 1 (UNI) Wholesale sugar prices today rallied up by Rs 25 per quintal on sustained bulk consumers demand in face of lesser arrival of stocks from co-operative mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.

Prices of small grade and medium grades (per quintal) rose by Rs 25 and Rs 10 respectively on lack of offers by stockists.

Sugar in ex-mill small and medium grades (per quintal) also hiked by Rs 10 each owing to improved demand from local dealers, traders said.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,335/1,396, Medium grade: Rs 1,396/1,496.

Ex-mill mall grade: Rs 1,325/1,360, Medium grade: Rs 1,375/1400.
