Senior Cong leaders from Bengal meet Pranab, Dasmunsi

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Senior Congress leaders from West Bengal today met External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi to finalise the name of the new president of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee.

During the hour-long meeting, where All India Congress Committee in-charge for West Bengal Mohsina Kidwai was also present, Mr Mukherjee requested all the members to work together and give up their differences on the issue to enable the party to have more access and acceptability among the people.

While one group supported Mr Dasmunsi, the other wanted Mr Mukherjee to take over as the new president. However, both the groups agreed to work together.

Ms Kidwai will announce the name of the president after having separate consultations with both Mr Mukherjee and Mr Dasmunsi. No timeframe has been fixed for the announcement of the name.

The delegation comprised senior Congress leaders Subroto Mukherjee, D P Roy, Manas Bhuiya, Pradeep Bhattacharjee and Abdul Mannan.
