Rs 84 cr for works on embankments of Amaravathi river

Karur, Nov 1 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has proposed to undertake desilting cum renovation works at the embankments of river Amaravathi at an estimated cost of Rs 84 crore, according to District Collector T N Venkatesh.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, he said the proposed work would benefit farmers in Karur, Erode and Coimbatore districts.

He said the authorities have sought permission to release Rs seven crore during 2007-08 towards the first instalment for the project.
