Sambalpur, Nov 1(UNI) Police are still clueless about yesterday's robbery in which miscreants dressed as police, looted Rs 50 lakh from officials of the Rourkela branch of a nationalised bank at gun point.

Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Sanjaya Kumar said three police teams were despatched to Jharbandh, Paikmal,Padmapur and adjacent areas as they believed that the robbers were hiding in Padmapur sub-division of Bargarh district.

Mr.Kumar criticised the banks for their careless handling of transaction of huge cash because they have a blanket cover of insurance.

The police also raised questions on the activities of the driver and security guard of the bank. The security guard, they said, did not bother to open fire when the miscreants tried to overpower the staff.

Mr.Kumar said the police at Bargarh and Chhatisgarh were alerted and all efforts were one to nab the criminals. All major entry points connecting Orissa to Chhatisgarh had been sealed, he added.
