New Fisheries Director aims at ''Blue revolution'' in Punjab

Chandigarh, Nov 1 (UNI) Darshan Singh Sayal, who today took charge as Director and Warden, Fisheries, Punjab said his efforts would be directed at enhancing the income of Fish Farmers and bringing about ''Blue revolution'' in the state.

After taking over the charge, Mr Sayal said that he would aim at strengthenig and modernising the Fish Seed Farms to increase the quality Fish Seed production in the state.

He said that the department would also endeavour to increase the fish production from present 6500 kg per hectare to 10000 kg per hectare by using modern techniques of fish production.

Mr Sayal had joined the Fisheries Department on 25th March, 1971 as fisheries officer and during his long service span of 37 years, he served as farm superintendent at different fish farms of the state for 25 years.

The earlier incumbent Jitender Vir Sharma attained superannuation on August 31.
