Nearly 2000 kg of firecrackers seized, two arrested

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) In its drive to check the illegal storage of crackers in the city on the eve of Diwali, the Delhi Police have seized about 2000 kg of illegal crackers from North Delhi.

Illegal firecrackers weighting 1620 kg were seized from a shop near Chandni Chowk yesterday and the owner of the shop Bhagwan Dass was arrested.

In another case, 203 kg of fire crackers were seized from a shop in the Sadar Bazar area and the shopkeeper Fakir Chand was arrested.

A case under the Explosives Act was registered against the two.
