MMK condemns Govt's attempt to 'divert' foreign investments

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 1 (UNI) Muvendhar Munnetra Kazhagam (MMK) founder-President Sridhar Vandayar today strongly condemned the Tamil Nadu Government's alleged attempt to divert all the major foreign investments in and around Chennai and Northern part of Tamil Nadu.

Addressing a press conference here, he said this would create disparity for the growth of the industrially backward Southern districts.

Mr Vandayar said if this trend continues, a demand for a separate state, consisting of Southern districts was "justifiable." Referring to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's reported announcement that the government would not hesitate to declare Kallar, Maravar and Agamudayar communities as "Thevar," if these communities agree to it, he said they wanted to be declared as 'Thevar'.

They also wanted 10 per cent exclusive reservation by including the 'Thevar' community in the 'most backward' list, he added.
