Major infiltration in J

Srinagar, Nov 1 (UNI) A major infiltration bid was foiled by the troops when they gunned down four heavily armed militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir today.

A defence ministry spokesperson said troops guarding the border noticed a group of militants infiltrating into this side in Machil and Keran sectors of the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning, taking the advantage of darkness.

He said when challenged and asked to surrender at a particular place on this side of the LoC, they opened indiscriminate fire.

The fire was returned and in the fierce gun battle four militants were killed so far.
