Journos condemn attack on reporter by MLA's supporters

Hyderabad, Nov 1 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) today sought the arrest of an MLA's supporters who allegedly attacked a reporter of a local daily on Tuesday.

In a statement here today,APUWJ President D Somasunder said the union condemned the attack on 'Andhra Jyothi'Reporter S Satyanarayana by the MLA's supporters.

When other reporters came to his aid, they were also detained for some time by the supporers.

The union wanted the police to immediately register a case against the culprits. It also sought an apology from the MLA to the mediapersons for 'the uncalled and agressive behaviour of his followers.' Mr Satyanarayana urged Home Minister K Jana Reddy to refer the case to the high power committee against Assaults on journalists in the state.
