JD(U) MLA Anant Singh jailed for assaulting scribes

Patna, Nov 1 (UNI) Ruling JD(U) MLA Anant Singh was today sent to jail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Patna for assaulting journalists at his official residence here.

Mr Singh was produced before the court of CJM Raghvendra Prasad Singh by the police after his arrest during the day. Later, the court remanded him to 14 days' judicial custody.

Apart from attempt to murder the scribes, the MLA had been booked under the arms act.

The JD(U) MLA was taken to Beur Central jail from the court amid tight security.

An FIR was lodged at Sachiwalaya police station during the day in which Anant Singh and his two bodyguards Mukesh Singh and Vipin Singh besides, 24 other persons were made accused for assaulting the scribes.

Both the security guards are absconding.
