IA face Indian Oil in Surjit Hockey final

Jalandhar, Nov 1 (UNI) Indian Airlines will meet last year's runners-up Indian Oil Corporation in the final of the 24 th Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today.

In the first semi-final former champions Indian Airlines defeated Bharat Petroleum of Mumbai by 3-0 while In the second semi final IndianOil, Mumbai defeated last year's champions Punjab&Sind Bank by 3-1.

The final will be played tomarrow at 6.00 pm and the match will be telecast live on DD Sports on national network.

IndianOil's forwards Olympians Deepak Thakur and Prabhjot Singh showed good game. In the 6th minute Deepak Thakur scored the first goal with reverse stick (1-0). The bankmen wasted three penalty corners in the first half.

At three minutes after resumption, Raghunath converted a penalty corner for Indian Oil (2-0).

In the 43 rd minute Raghunath struck once again as he converted third penalty corner for IndianOil (3-0).

In the dying minute of the game the bankmen reduced the margin through Vikramjit Singh who converted a panality corner (1-3).
