Mumbai, Nov 1 (UNI) The CBI sleuths today conducted a search operation at the office and residence of Additional Commissioner of Customs V K Aggarwal here and in Vadodara and recovered assets worth Rs 70 lakh.

CBI sleuths recovered assets worth Rs 49.87 lakh in the form of Fixed Deposit Receipts, Kisan Vikas Patras, National Saving Certificates and shares. According to CBI sources, Aggarwal, who is currently posted as Additional Commissioner of Customs at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) at Nhawa Sheva.

He, in connivance with one Customs Superintendent at the same Port, allegedly did undue favour to a private company under the Duty Free Import Authorisation Scheme, and allowed it to make provisional export, though there was mis-declaration of the weight of the export consignment, raising doubts about the quality of the fabric measured in gram per square metre.
