Police arrest gang: 32 sovereigns of gold recovered

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 31 (UNI) Police today arrested a seven-member robbery gang and recovered 32 sovereigns of gold ornaments from them.

Talking to newspersons here, District Superintendent of Police Rajasekaran said the gang was involved in several theft cases in the district, including Musiri, Thuraiyur, Thottiam and Thathaiyengarpet during the past several months.

The SP had formed a special team to arrest the gang successfully.

Police identified the gang as Periyasamy (42), Annadurai (29), Paramasivam (27), Kathalingam (35), Marudaiyan (50), Muniyandi (45) and Irumbudurai (50) both hailing from Punjai Sangenthi village in the district.

A case was registered and efforts were on to nab another of the gang member.
