Shiv Sena corporator murdered in Thane Dist

Thane, Oct 30 (UNI) A Shiv Sena corporator from Ambernath town was today allegedly murdered by three unidentified persons at Badlapur in the district.

The corporator, identified as Santosh Pawar, was brutally killed at around 1800 hrs by a group of three unknown persons at Borhadpada in Badlapur. He was elected to the corporation from Ward No 48 Chikloli, the police said tonight.

Police said the assailants, travelling in a jeep, first dashed the vehicle and later attacked Mr Pawar with lethal weapons, including chopper.

Police said the exact cause of Mr Pawar's murder was still not known. However, they suspected a land dispute may have been the cause.

The unknown persons also attacked the corportator's two brothers, who sustained injuries, police said, adding that the senior police officers from Ambernath police station rushed to the scene of offence.
