Press body formed in Kashmir; Kaloo is prez for 2 years

Srinagar, Oct 30 (UNI) Mr Ghulam Hassan Kaloo, the Editor-in-Chief of English daily The Mirror of Kashmir, was elected the president of a press body here today.

The body, Kashmir Press, comprises 37 members who are editors of different English and Urdu newspapers from here.

In today's elections, Mr Kaloo was declared elected by 31 votes.

While four members were absent, two abstained from voting.

Mr Kaloo will serve as the president of the body for two years.

Asian Mail Editor Abdul Rahsid Rahil was also elected the general Secretray of the Kashmir Press. He secured 21 votes.

The other office bearers were: Editor Subah-e-Kashmir Nazir Ahmed (Treasurer), Editor Roshini Zahoor Ahmed (Secretary), Editor Iqbal-e-Kashmir Mohammad Iqbal (Organiser) and Editor Srinagar News Gulzar Ahmed (Secretary Revenue).
