Mumbai, Oct 30: Maharashtra Revenue Minister and Konkan strong man Narayan Rane said though Shiv Sena never supported the South Indians or given an election ticket to any Tamilian in its 40-year history in the state, but being a Congressman, he will change the trend.

Speaking at a function held to celebrate the birth anniversary of former AICC President and Chief Minster of Tamil Nadu, K Kamaraj in Dharavi on Sunday, Mr Rane said ''I will support Tamilians and other South Indians in Mumbai's politics and see to it that they play an active part in it.'' He said, ''Shiv Sena had never done it. But since I had left the Sena, I will work towards strengthening South Indians in Mumbai.'' He added that Congress was the only party that had supported the people from all castes and religions.
