Man sacrifices tongue to placate Lord Hanuman

Barabanki, Oct 30 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a man allegedly sacrificed his tongue to propitiate Lord Hanuman on the Tuesday, idolized as His worship day, at a temple here tonight.

The bizarre ritual took place at Haidergarh locality, where Barhampura resident Ram Shankar Pasi (45) went to pay obeisance to the Monkey God at an ancient temple on Lucknow-Sultanpur highway.

He offered his tongue to the Goddess after cutting it from a blade.

Eyewitnesses said, he continued to offer prayers at the temple.

Meanwhile, police arrested the man.

This is the second such incident reported in the last few days.

On October 12, a teenaged girl had sacrificed her tongue to appease Goddess Kali on the first day of the nine-day Shardiya Navratri at a temple at village Babai in Jalaun.
