Lawyer in judicial custody attempting for trying to usurp property

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) A Delhi court has remanded in judicial custody a lawyer who tried to usurp property of a woman by procuring a false marriage certificate with her daughter.

Ravi Joshi, a lawyer in the Delhi Karkardooma courts, was on Monday remanded in judicial custody in a case relating to his attempt to usurp the property of Ms Raksha Arora by forcibly entering her house at Rajouri Garden after obtaining a forged certificate marriage with her daughter Smita Arora, a former lawyer in the Karkardooma court.

Ms Raksha Arora, a widow who inherited from her husband four properties in various parts of Delhi and Gurgaon, had lodged a complaint that Joshi had used the forged marriage certificate to enter forcibly into her house with an intention to extort her property by confining her and putting her under constant criminal intimidation.

The police, on the complaint, arrested Joshi on September 27.

The investigation revealed that the accused stole a blank marriage certificate from the Mandir and used the same to enter into the house of Rakhsa Arora.

Joshi then induced Smita Arora to prepare a NOC on behalf of her mother Raksha Arora, claiming that she had not objection in transferring her property rights to her daughter from whom he could have easily obtained the ownership, as she was in his confidence.

In her complaint, Raksha Arora denied signing the said document and alleged that Joshi threatened to kill her and kept her in such a terror that she was forced to leave her house.

In its ruling, the judge said after receiving the address verification report of the accused it appeared that if relief was granted to him it would be difficult to procure his presence and there was every chance of his fleeing from justice.

Hence, it ordered that Joshi be taken into judicial custody till November 19.
