Ex-BJP MLA's brother sentenced to life

Etawah, Oct 30 (UNI) A local court today pronounced life imprisonment on former Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA Jaiveer Singh's sibling for killing the husband of party leader Sarita Bhadauria.

According to prosecution, in a broad daylight murder case Abahay Veer Singh -- husband of the BJP leader -- was shot dead on July 15, 1999.

An FIR was lodged against the then BJP MLA's brother Omveer alias Pappu Bhadauria and three others. The accused had later surrendered.

After the hearing of Omveer and another accused Pramod was completed, Additional Sessions Judge (I) Satyapal Singh, on the basis of circumstancial evidence and testimony, convicted the ex-MLA's brother, besides slapping Rs 10,000 penalty.

The court, however, acquitted Pramod for lack of evidence.
