Houses of UP legislature adjourned

Both
houses
of
the
Uttar
Pradesh
legislature
were
adjourned
for
the
day
today
after
condoling
the
demise
of
sitting
members.
Today was the first day of the brief Winter Session.
While the legislative council was adjourned for the day due to the death of sitting member representing Gorakhpur-Faizabad teachers' constituency, Panchanan, Rai in a road accident on September 5, the assembly was adjourned following the demise of sitting Bahujan Samaj Party member Upendra Tiwari, who represented Bilgram seat in Hardoi district.
In the assembly, Chief Minister Mayawati moved the condolence motion over the death of Mr Tiwari on October 20.
Leaders of other political parties also expressed their condolence before observing two minutes of silence.
The state assembly will meet tomorrow when the first supplementary budget and 17 other bills would be tabled in the House.
