Union Home Ministry Jt Secy visits Pondy

Puducherry, Oct 29: Union Home Ministry Joint Secretary B A Coutinho today called on Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy at his office.

Emerging out of a 30-minute meeting, Mr Rangasamy told mediapersons that Mr Coutinho, who visited tsunami-affected areas of Karaikal Region yesterday, had expressed satisfaction on relief and rehabilitation measures undertaken by the territorial administration.

Mr Coutinho was requested to expedite pending matters in Karaikal Region, including grant of permission for construction of another 270 houses for tsunami-affected and additional funds of Rs 100 crore for the PWD here, he added.

Later, Mr Coutinho and District Collector Theva Neethi Das visited the tsunami-hit areas in the Union Territory, including Moorthikuppam.
