Panaji, Oct 29 (UNI) The Entertainment Society of Goa(ESG) has selected the Mumbai-based Times Innovative Media Ltd as the event management company of this year's edition of the 10-day International Film Festival of India(IFFI) beginning here on November 23.

Announcing this here after the governing council of the ESG met here today, chief minister Digambar Kamat told media persons that the company had made a financial bid of Rs 2.13 crores of which it claimed it would raise Rs 90 lakhs through sponsorships.

The ESG had rejected the bid of the Delhi-based Brilliant Entertainment Network Limited which defaulted to the government to the tune of Rs two crores.

Incidentally, the Times Group company was the event manager for the first edition of IFFI in Goa in the year 2004.

The ESG had also decided to register only 5000 delegates for the festival depending upon the availability of seating capacity in consultation with the Directorate of Film Festivals(DFF) which organises the prestigious event that showcases film talent across the world.

For the first time, the authorities had also decided to introduce ticketing system for the delegates for entering the cinema halls to witness the movies to be screened during the festival so that there would not be any mad rush at the venues.

The general delegates would be allowed to participate for three screenings per day and the media delegates five.

The authorities had also decided to screen films and conduct concerts and film related activities at five more places other than Panaji, Margao, Ponda, Bicholim and Vasco-da-Gama to promote film culture.

The news places are Colva, Calangute, Canacona, Sanquem-Quepem and Pernem-Dhargal. The venues would be named after famous Goan artists and Bollywood artists would participate at all the places, he said.

Union I&B Minister Priya Ranjan Das Munshi was expected to visit the capital here on November 8 or 9 to review the arrangements for the film festival, which, he said, would be totally ''film centric''.

The inaugural film, yet to be finalised, would be screened after a simple opening ceremony at Kala Academy, the main venue of the festival, Mr Kamat said.

ESG is the nodal agency of the government for facilitating the conduct of the festivals every year by the Directorate of Film Festivals under the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting(I&B).

Goa had been the permanent venue for holding the IFFI since the year 2004.
