RP Infosystems to invest Rs1000 cr in hardware compo near Baruipur

Kolkata, Oct 29(UNI) RP Infosystems, the makers of Chirag computer, will invest Rs.1,000 crore for setting up of a hardware component manufacturing at Baruipur near Kolkata.

To be set up on a 30 acre plot, which has already been acquired, the hardware manufacturing centre is expected to come up in two years time, RP Infosystems Chairman Kaustav Roy today said.

Speaking to reporters at the launch of the company's laptop, Mr.Roy said a tie-up had been made with, Hasee of China and Topstar of Taiwane for technological support.

The proposed factory would produce computer mother board, ram, key board, cabinet and mouse, among other components.

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who was present at the function, said industrialisation was a must for the state and it should not be made a political issue.

While observing that the aim of industrialisation was to provide employment to the growing number of educated youth, Mr.Bhattacharjee criticised the Centre for pursuing a policy of 'jobless growth'.

He said at present West Bengal had a total investment proposal of Rs. 90,000 crore in the steel sector alone.

RP Infosystems Director Subir Raha said the Chirag Power Play Laptop, developed in the company's production facility in China had all the modern configurations to be available in the market at a price less by Rs.10,000 from that of the products of other global companies.

The price of the laptop ranges from Rs. 23,990 to Rs. 35,990.
