Over 26 lakh paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 29 (UNI) More than 26.91 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana, of which 15.64 lakh metric tonnes has been procured by government agencies so far.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said HAFED had procured 6.43 lakh MTs, of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 4.97 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 1.96 lakh MTs, Confed 1.70 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 50,963 MTs of paddy and Food Corporation of India 5563 MTs.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Kurukshetra district was on the top in arrival of paddy in all the districts of the State as the arrival at Kurukshetra was 6.02 lakh MTs of paddy followed by Karnal 4.76 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 4.15 lakh MTs, Kaithal 3.12 lakh MTs, Ambala 2.35 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 1.66 lakh MTs and Sirsa 1.25 lakh MTs.

Mr Chander Mohan said the payment to the farmers was being made within 48 to 72 hours and a sum of Rs 985 crore had been arranged for the payment of paddy to the farmers.
