Navy, Coast Guard search for missing fishermen
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Oct 29 (UNI) The Indian Navy and Coast Guard have launched a massive search operation to trace eight fishermen, who went missing after they ventured into the sea from here for fishing.
Official sources said about 674 fishing boats had set sail on Saturday last for fishing. Except two the remaining boats reached the shore last evening.
The missing boats were identified as TN-10 MFP 834 and TN-10 MFP 940. All the eight fishermen on board the two boats were yet to return to the shore.
As an attempt made by a group of fishermen today to trace their missing counterparts was unsucceessful due to heavy fog and poor visibility, the assistance of the Navy and Coast Guard was sought.
