Nandigram, Oct 29 (UNI) Even as the CPI(M) sponsored 12-hour bandh was nearing its end in Khejuri and Nandigram, 17 houses of BUPC supporters were allegedly set on fire today in Takapura and Kamalpur villages.

The houses of those set on fire included that of BUPC leader Abdul Samad, who fled his house out of fear.

''AITC supremo Mamata Banerjee, who is still in Contai, has expressed her desire to come to these affected areas and meet the people later this evening,'' MLA and BUPC leader Sisir Adhikary said.

However, no police official was available for comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, Simanta Das(30), a CPI(M) supporter, who was injured in yesterday's bomb making accident, died this afternoon, taking the casualty figure to six and the injury figure to 10 in the last three days, hospital sources said.
